SOUND SCREEN USER GUIDE
Position for Privacy
To mask emanating sound and increase privacy, the Sound Screen should be placed outside the therapy room, by the wall or doorway.
One or more Sound Screens will help prevent other clients, family members or staff from overhearing any private conversations.
Move the Sound Screen around until you find the optimal location for your own office situation. Specific office needs will vary.
The number and location of Sound Screens required to create optimal white noise will depend on:
- Size of hallway or waiting room
- Number of offices
- Restroom locations
- Volume of conversations

When sound insulation is inadequate between two adjacent therapy rooms, Sound Screens should be placed inside each therapy room.
Position to Block Out Noise
To block out sound for sleep or studying, screen the outside noise by placing the Sound Screen inside your room. This creates white noise inside the room so you will not be disturbed.
The Sound Screen Needs no Hardware or Mounting
The Marpac Sound Screen fits conveniently in a variety of horizontal locations. It is self-standing with a soft foam padding on the bottom, and requires no hardware or mounting. Placement on floors, carpet, under or on top of an end table, on a bookcase or other shelf are all acceptable.
If an AC outlet is not close to your choice placement, an extension cord will work fine. If you are unable to use an extension cord, please call us to discuss cordless options.
Adjusting Volume and Tone
Volume and tone of the Sound Screens can be regulated as follows:
- The on-off switch can be adjusted for high or low speed white noise. (Marpac Sound Screen 980A only)
- The top of the device can be rotated to expose sound openings. This adjustment will change both the volume and tone of the white noise. (Marpac Sound Screen 980A and 580A)
- The adjustable side collar can further control volume and tone of the white noise. (Marpac Sound Screen 980A and 580A)
